A circular economy for unwanted items
Here at CAMA, we are not only trying to avoid items that are no longer needed by our customers, going into landfill, we are also trying to avoid them being broken down to their component parts and recycled. This is because we are committed to investing in the circular economy – our aim at CAMA storage is to get household, office and production assets back into the community.
Take a moment to think of all the items that you might have in storage that are just too good to waste… over the past few months we have been working with Reuse Network. They are a network that was established to reduce poverty, tackle waste, and offer a better future to the most vulnerable in society. As part of the network, CAMA have been able to make contact with charities across the country who are looking for office and household items for reuse.
One such connection we have been able to make is with Too Good To Waste – who can make use of mattresses, chairs, ironing boards, lights – all essential household items for those in need. We have been able to donate such items from our customers and client’s who don’t want them anymore.
We make this process of donation very easy, all our customers have to do is click a button and they can reuse and donate items from storage. You can learn more about our unique and sustainable asset management system here.
Director of CAMA, Michelle French, explains: “We ask our customers and clients: What can your container bring to families in the UK? Our enhanced sustainability support enables them to reduce the amount of items they have in storage whilst supporting the community and reducing their carbon footprint at the same time.
Our enhanced sustainability service that is offered to customers and film productions, means that we can facilitate the donation of all sorts of items. This includes office and household items, but also interesting props & costumes, that are all in good or simply workable condition and in need of a new home”.
Household items being picked up from CAMA storage for reuse and donations through Reuse Network
10 million household items are sent to landfill every year. 3 million of these could be reused by people in crisis.
The team here at CAMA are keen to make sure that household and office items that are no longer needed by our clients and productions are given to those most in need. And because of our unique asset management software, you can review your items online and allocate what you’d like to be donated, shared, recycled or delivered to a specific location. This makes practicing a circular economy easy.
As well as working with Reuse Network and Too Good To Waste we are also working closely with Single Homeless Project and Barking & Dagenham Council. Thereby ensuring that a number of community organisations can now benefit from items in storage that are no longer needed by our customers.
