Why Earth Day was important for CAMA and our valued customers
It was inspiring to see so many online initiatives yesterday to celebrate Earth Day, despite only being able to enjoy nature from the comfort of our homes during lockdown. This was the view from my window at home!
Earth Day was a great opportunity for all of us working in this field to ensure we continue talking about the health of the planet, despite the uncertainty and challenges caused by COVID-19.
Many of the CAMA team have family working in the front line at the NHS and I’ve been pleased that we have been able to help in a very small way with transport and storage. My hat goes off to all those working in the NHS and other critical workers, particularly those working in logistics. Certainly not an easy task.
I wanted to make sure that during this period, as well as offering support to the community and NHS, CAMA continued to think about reducing waste, and helping our clients reduce their carbon footprint. And that is why it was such great timing to celebrate Earth Day.
It has been refreshing, because so many of our clients, including both corporate and film & TV productions, have been in contact to discuss the best choices in terms of their environmental impact. It seems that the lockdown has given these teams the time to focus on this.
Ands it has certainly has kept us busy!
Tristian our brilliant software developer is busy developing our online portal to enable the efficient sharing, selling and donating of items and assets that clients and productions have in storage.
I’ve taken this time to demo the software over zoom and get feedback from customers and film and TV productions – ensuring that we are enhancing our service to them – whilst simultaneously reducing their carbon footprint.
Yosien, our new sustainability lead, is spending the time during lock down to make those all important connections. Working with BAFTA’s Albert Scheme, other green accreditation organisations, charities and social enterprises, to ensure we are at the forefront of the sustainability movement and following best practice.
We know the future is uncertain – but when we come out of the lockdown, we want to be ready to go – ready to support our customers to be even greener, efficient and sustainable.
Happy Belated Earth Day and wishing you all good health.
