Recognising and supporting social care work beyond COVID-19
We want to highlight those who have been working in social care for years and their ongoing and often unrecognised commitment to their profession. In particular, Helen, partner of our valued CAMA team member Richard, who is pictured here with her team.
Helen works for a company called J C Michael groups LTD in the care division. They have 9 branches throughout London and surrounding areas. Helen works with both local authority and the Clinical commissioning groups (CCG) providing care throughout Hackney for both elderly vulnerable service users and people with learning disabilities and mental health. They are also currently providing care to individuals with COVID-19.
“The pandemic has made a huge shift in how social care is seen in the UK and carers are getting the recognition they have deserved for so long. It’s terrible that the world has had to experience this tragedy for people to finally give social care the recognition it deserves.
I have worked in social care for 11 years, starting as a carer and working my way up to registered manager. I am so proud of all my staff and carers who have worked so hard and tirelessly. My team have been working around the clock during the pandemic. It’s amazing how they still do it with a smile on their face – not wanting to let down those they care for.The community and local businesses have been amazing and supportive during this time.
The way everyone has come together through this difficult time and helped each other through has been beautiful to watch. The support of companies like CAMA has has really improved the morale of the staff. The show of appreciation really goes along way when people are struggling”
The CAMA team are proud to support the work of Helen and her team now and beyond this pandemic. Thank you to them and all the critical care workers that have worked tirelessly for the support and care of others.
