Recycling in the film and TV sector
In the film and TV industry, it is vital that all items relating to filming are disposed of properly at the end of the shoot. Props, furniture, sets – all these items must be recycled or reused, with proof that this has happened effectively. By managing this process properly, a business can ensure that the film or TV show’s IP does not leak into the wider world, with items ending up on Ebay, for example.
At CAMA, we have become experts at making sure this all happens in a seamless and thorough way. Here’s how.
First, resell and reuse
Some items such as furniture or props used during shooting will still be in near-perfect condition. Sets can also be dismantled and used elsewhere, by another production company, for example.
The first place for us to start with these types of items is to see if we can sell them for you, perhaps to another film or TV company. We have partners that help us during this process who ensure absolute discretion throughout. This procedure is fully documented, to make sure that all items are accounted for and won’t end up in the public domain.
Breakdown and recycle
When items cannot be used, we facilitate a thorough disposal service. We breakdown items in a safe and environmentally-friendly way, documenting the whole process through photos and videos to give ultimate proof that they have been disposed of thoroughly.
Everything is destroyed at our own facilities, which also ensures discretion. Once you tell us that an item we have in storage needs to be destroyed, no other transport is involved so there is no risk that an item can be mislaid at any point.
Complete visibility
When we store items, all details and photographs are uploaded into our online portal Click-store. This allows a business to have absolute certainty about which items are where. Items can be collected or recalled using the online system at a day’s notice.
When you let us know that an item needs to be destroyed, the same visibility applies. We know how important it is for film and TV businesses to keep track of items and sets used in filming. We have honed these processes over the years to become a trusted partner for the industry.
