Boxes saved – sustainability at every step
After a production wraps, CAMA helps to sort through the items that have been put into storage. These items can be anything from documents and written notes, to props and sets. At this stage, CAMA works hard to make sure as much as possible is redistributed and reused, before being broken down to be recycled.
You can read an example of how we have donated props to the London Screen Academy in a previous article here, and how we donated costumes to Camden Costumes here.
We were working through a productions’ items recently, and found we were able to redistribute and consolidate to the point that we were left with a lot of empty boxes.
All the boxes were from Dynamic International, a transport and logistics company that offers support to film and TV productions. The boxes could have been recycled but they were still in an excellent condition and could be used again. Therefore, our warehouse team contacted Dynamic International and found they were keen to collect the boxes to reuse them.
We are always trying to find new ways and channels to redistribute and reuse items. Although boxes seem like a small element of a whole production, we believe that it is important to pay attention to all the small parts of the bigger project, in order to become truly sustainable.
