From the set of a period drama to St. Joseph’s this Christmas
Helping productions to support their communities.
Our specialist sustainability team were tasked with finding a new home for a selection of beautiful period furniture from a recent TV series. We needed a home that not only supported the local community, but rooms that were large enough to suit the style and size of the pieces.
St Joseph’s is a church that has stood proudly in Highgate for more than 165 years, and supports people whatever their faith. The building was in urgent need of essential repairs. Meeting rooms that support the community life with groups for the elderly, AA meetings and children’s play groups, were unsafe and had to be closed off.
St Joseph’s receives no central funding from Rome, and so, after a successful SOS Appeal, that was supported wholeheartedly by the community, they were able to make critical repairs, just in the nick of time.
The grand Red Room was the perfect new home for the period furniture being stored with CAMA. It was delivered by the team in the Summer, and after extensive renovations to rescue this important community space, the furniture is finally in place for events this Christmas.
“The community of St Joseph’s and North London would like to thank CAMA Assetstore for thinking of us! This furniture makes our community, who come from all walks of life, and from all faiths, feel special and cared for, often in a time of great need. Last Thursday, over 50 local health-workers were the first group to use the room, enjoying tea and mince pies! The furniture is so beautiful – we have ideas for many more events, possibly a games nights for the local elderly. This is now a cosy and welcoming place to get together and keep warm! Thank you again to the whole team” Father George, St Joseph’s.
Father George, pictured above hosted a reception for 50 health workers, who were treated to tea and mince pies after mass. It’s so wonderful that this kind of important service to the community can happen again in all these valuable spaces.
