Driving Sustainability with Circular Economy and Reuse Hubs in Film & TV Production

Our commitment to positive, responsible production

We are leading the way in championing sustainable practices across the film and television production industry. With a dedication to minimising environmental impact, fostering social value and supporting our people, we’re shaping a better industry.

“From clean energy initiatives in our warehouses to promoting circular economy models that extend the lifecycle of production assets, we are developing what responsible production looks like. Yet, sustainability is about more than just the environment. For us, it also means strengthening the communities we operate in, empowering our clients and teams, and ensuring every decision creates meaningful, lasting impact”.

Our flagship warehouse is powered by clean energy

We are fully committed to minimising Scope 1 and 2 emissions by investing in clean energy solutions and promoting eco-efficient infrastructure. Our BREEAM-rated warehouse, rated “A” for EPC, is a true embodiment of sustainable design and ingenuity.

  • We invested £100k into Trina 290 Wp Mono PV panels, installed by Photon Energy Group, whose mission is: making clean energy, clean water and clean environments accessible to everyone.
  • Our 92 Solar Panels producing a peak power of 50.14 kWp, coupled with battery storage that can sustain operations on solar energy for seven months.
  • Triple-glazed, solar-controlled windows to enhance energy efficiency while creating a comfortable indoor environment.
  • Energy-efficient LED lighting activated by PIR body heat sensors, ensuring minimal energy consumption.
  • 14 EV Charging Points installed at our facilities, ensuring easy access for electric vehicles.
  • A fleet featuring a Nissan electric van, used for the delivery of second-hand production items, proving sustainability and practicality can go hand-in-hand.
  • There are no loud generators allowed on site and trucks arriving switch off their engines when idle.

Working in partnership with sustainable industry leaders

You can find CAMA AssetStore on the BAFTA albert Suppliers Directory. We were independently vetted and met strict sustainability requirements as set out by the BAFTA albert team. We are also listed under the Green Production Guide, compiled by the Sustainable Production Alliance in LA.

We are signed up to Better Futures —an initiative led by the Mayor of London to achieve net zero, as well as using the Climate Essential’s carbon management platform. We’re committed to the SME Climate Pledge and involved with the Carbon Accounting Alliance.

With the change of company structure and location over the last 18 months we’re set to continue to reduce our carbon footprint. Our strategy is comprehensive and focused on tangible results:

  • Energy Consumption: We’re committed to maximising our reliance on solar energy, ensuring that all energy we use is clean and renewable.
  • Waste and Recycling: Our goal is to minimise waste and optimise recycling processes across all regional sites, setting new standards in sustainability.
  • Supplier Procurement: We’re keenly focused on addressing Scope 3 emissions, aiming to boost sustainability throughout our supply chain.

Driving sustainability through regional film hubs

We have created network of regional hubs in key UK filming locations in Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool, and Bristol. These hubs offer localised, shared infrastructure that brings tangible benefits to filmmakers, production crews, and local economies.

Here’s how regional hubs are designed to support the industry:

  • Efficiency: Regional hubs reduce the need for long-distance transport, cutting costs and saving valuable time for productions of all sizes.
  • Sustainability: By minimising transport emissions and enabling shared resources, we’re helping to reduce the environmental impact of asset management
  • Local Impact: Partnering with local storage providers supports regional businesses, strengthens communities, and creates an ecosystem of production resources.

Driving the circular economy

We are building a more sustainable industry by powering circular economy models that minimise waste, reduce Scope 3 emissions and give production assets a second life. Our dedicated AssetCycle team ensure that productions can easily repurpose sets, costumes and props easily, extending their lifecycle and reducing landfill waste.

  • Collaboration is our culture: Our network of partnerships with the UK’s leading reuse hubs & organisations means we are driving circular economy models focused on reuse, not disposal.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Productions can leverage our bespoke industry first AssetCycle Carbon Calculator for detailed reports on environmental impact and carbon savings from asset reuse. Productions can also gain recognition for sustainable practices at project completion through our Circular Economy Certification.
  • Enhanced Tracking by 2024: Production can expect more precise Scope 3 data with advanced transportation metrics and updated carbon factors.
  • Compliant Recycling: Our commitment extends to responsible recycling practices, ensuring compliance with WEEE regulations

We understand that circularity also needs to be embedded in our own infrastructure. That’s why our own offices are kitted out ex

Keeping the team at the forefront of sustainability

We are proud of the steps we’ve taken to enhance our team’s knowledge on sustainability and environmental impact.

By nurturing a collaborative team, we’re driving forward sustainability in film and TV production while setting new industry standards.

  • Between 2020 and 2024, we worked with with Yosien Burke, Sustainability and Communications Consultant (AIEMA), who alongside the Directors, implemented our reuse service and AssetCycle Calculator, developed by Climate Essentials.
  • Building on this momentum, in 2023, we welcomed Ella Nevill, (previously from Climate Essentials) whose innovative Circular Economy guidance continues to propel our progress with our software platform AssetFlow. Ella Carbon is Literacy Project Certified through the albert Sustainability Champion course
  • Additionally, Sam Collins, who leads our reuse operations through AssetCycle, has completed the AIEMA training course, University of Cambridge’s Sustainable Marketing, Media and Creative and Reel Green Climate & Albert’s Sustainable Production Training.

Fostering Communication & Engagement

We’re committed to open and engaging communication about our environmental goals. Weekly team meetings keep everyone informed, engaged and motivated to contribute to our sustainability initiatives.

A workplace where nature and wellbeing thrives

Our flagship newly built warehouse is nestled within the natural beauty of Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park in Southend.

This is a 200-acre wildlife park which inspires creativity and focus through outdoor meeting spaces and peaceful lunchtime walks. Cherry Orchard park has flourishing wildflower gardens and bird boxes enhancing the ecosystem on our doorstep.

We have easy access to work via excellent public transport, carpooling support, an EV van for station pickups, as well as a large bike shed that further encourages green commuting options.

Investing in our communities

We prioritise repurposing productions assets and materials while supporting the people and communities who need them most. Through AssetCycle our dedicated team matches unique items with organisations that need them.

By collaborating with over 150 UK charities and social enterprises, we ensure that items such as props and costumes find a new purpose, benefiting countless individuals and organisations across the UK.
